During the noisiest night of the year, a family of hedgehogs become separated leaving baby Hubert alone in the darkness, surrounded by scary shadows and loud noises. With tears in his eyes, he curls up into a ball, just like his mummy had taught him to. He's all alone until...“Cocka-doodle-doo!” Before he knows it, he has the entire Backyard Farm helping him.

From The Author

This is a book for families who love hedgehogs more than fireworks! This tale reminds all of us that we live in a world surrounded by wonderful, wild animals, and those animals deserve our consideration and compassion. This is a story with an important lesson because we all know that the best children’s stories are not just written for entertainment.

They show us the world from others’ perspectives. They demonstrate how love and relationships work, and how to accept and support the differences between people and yes, animals. They enable children to experience things far outside of their daily lives, including some difficult emotions and thoughts, all in the safety of a picture book, surrounded by their loving family ready to answer their questions.

Hubert’s Noisy Night is the fourth in our series of animal stories. We love the way they tap into the purest world of a child’s imagination. They’re creating the most magical and yet safest of places, where children can learn, sometimes, difficult lessons. And, the best part is, these lessons are delivered within exciting animal adventures. The Tales of the Backyard Farm stories are wonderful and fun and they don’t feel like an education…but we hope they are.
