Rocky is the youngest cockerel in the Backyard Farm. He fell in love with the beautiful game as a chick, after watching Sammy and Benny playing most afternoon on the farm. Though only 1 foot 2 inches (35cm) tall and only weighing 5 pounds (2.27 kg), he is strong, well-balanced and agile, utilising his weightlessness in flight, to accelerate, turn and attack the ball. Naturally left-clawed, quick, and precise in control when in possession, Rocky has sharp passing accuracy and can readily thread his way through packed defences.
His ability to read the game shines through when commentating on the afternoon’s match. His favourite, most prestigious spot to observe the play, is the infamous ‘Top Beam’. The whole Backyard listens to his insightful, witty comments, happy to share in his passion and celebrate his success.
Although he is often faced with adversity, and those around him may attempt to put doubt in his mind, nothing will stop Rocky realising his dream. One day he will be a world-famous footballer and play at Wembley. He knows that he believes in himself so nothing is impossible!
Chickens, just like most animals, use light as an indication of the time of day and plan their habits around when it’s safest to go out to feed and forage, and when it’s time to sleep.
Chickens naturally feel vulnerable and afraid of the dark as they have poor night vision. They also become more reliant on their other senses which makes them appear more anxious.
